Bacterial Assessment and Isolation of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria from the Indian Major Carp, Labeo rohita

A bacteriological study of fish is critical to protecting people from potential hazards and serving as an indicator water contamination. The was carried out investigate microorganisms the Labeo rohita. total bacterial load measured in skin, gills, intestine. It had a (TBL) 1.54×109 CFU/g on average. intestine highest average TBL 2.09×109 CFU/g, while gill lowest 1.08×109 CFU/g. Isolated bacteria were grouped based colony characteristics then subjected morphological, physiological, biochemical analysis for identification up genus or species level. Staphylococcus aureus Vibrio spp. identified two microorganisms. After thorough examination PCR analysis, bacteria, S. spp., isolated. detected skin samples R3 R5 fish. isolated R3, R4, gills. found intestinal R2, R5. presence intestines all tested, well R4 R5, gills 16S rRNA gene amplified isolates, Tox-R spp isolates. tested positive 16s genes, respectively. An antibiotic sensitivity test revealed that majority susceptible azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, tetracycline but resistant amoxicillin streptomycin.
